April 2022  End of an Era

EWI was established in San Francisco in 1938 as Executive Secretaries. The Denver Chapter was chartered on November 22, 1954. In 1977 the name was changed to Executive Women International to better reflect the changing role of women in the workplace and the international expansion into Canada.

For 67 years the Denver Chapter brought together women (and men) to promote their business, firm or company, enhance their personal and professional development and become involved in our community. As the world of business changed we too evolved and adapted seeking to be current and relevant. Sadly, the last few years have proven that the world of professional memberships has outdated the purpose of our Denver Chapter. We were unique in having the firms own the membership; holding programs at various locations all over metro Denver; supporting and promoting member firms through our local and  international network with an exchange of information and education.

We will have our FINAL membership program on May 18 at The Denver Botanic Gardens. For many years The Denver Botanic Gardens was a member firm and host to several programs and fund raisers. We tearfully look forward to enjoying a beautiful evening in this memorable place as the sun sets on EWI Denver.

Earlier in February Betty Hagen passed away at the age of 100 years old! She turned 100 on January 2nd. She was a long time member of EWI with Petry Construction. After retiring from there she got a brokers license and ran an investment group which consisted of many of her EWI members. She faced and survived numerous health challenges in recent years but as always had a cheerful disposition that never faltered. She was a woman with great faith and enriched everyone who knew her.

Gerry C. Frantz was a member of EWI for many years. We are sad to announce her sudden passing sometime last week. Gerry was a registered representative with Park Avenue Securities and a retired agent from Wealth Strategies Group. She believed in proactively educating women, men and young adults in the realities of obtaining their financial goals. She loved to travel with her husband, spend time with her children and grandchildren and gourmet cooking.

Dina Baise, (past president) has a new gig! We congratulate her new position with SHINESTY a clothing store with an emphasis on custom branded apparel. Dina is a knock your socks off Strategic Account Executive.
